This project shows the efficacy of developing an inexpensive and reliable vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) UAV system capable of level 3 autonomy (autonomous navigation with pilot only for fall back). The proposed system was designed and developed with open source flight computer hardware and software. After rigorous testing the system showed reliable operational capabilities.
